EMDR therapy for adults in CO & FL.
Are you ready to rewrite the narrative of your memories and shape a new story for your life?
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a therapeutic technique that is used to help individuals process and work through traumatic experiences. EMDR works by using bilateral stimulation, which involves alternating visual, auditory, or tactile stimuli to help activate the brain's natural ability to process and heal from trauma.
EMDR can help in several ways, including:
Reducing symptoms of anxiety and depression
Resolving trauma-related issues
Improving self-esteem and self-worth
Enhancing personal growth and resilience
Overall, EMDR can be an effective therapeutic technique for individuals who have experienced trauma and are struggling with its emotional and psychological effects. By working with a trained EMDR therapist, individuals can work through their trauma in a safe and supportive environment and begin to heal and move forward in their lives.
You’re ready to embrace a brighter future.
How EMDR therapy works
You can learn to break free of the control your memories have.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a form of psychotherapy that helps people recover from traumatic events or experiences. EMDR therapy is based on the idea that traumatic experiences can get "stuck" in our brains, causing ongoing distress, anxiety, and negative beliefs about ourselves. The therapy aims to help individuals process these traumatic experiences in a safe and controlled way, so that they can ultimately move on and recover.
During an EMDR session, I will guide you through a series of eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation, such as tapping or tones, while they recall the traumatic event. The goal is to stimulate both sides of the brain while the individual focuses on the traumatic memory, which helps to "unstick" the traumatic experience from the brain's processing centers. This process can help to reduce the power and intensity of the traumatic memory, making it easier to manage and cope with.
Over time, individuals who undergo EMDR therapy may experience a reduction in symptoms related to their traumatic experience, such as anxiety, depression, and flashbacks. They may also feel a greater sense of control over their thoughts and emotions, and develop a more positive self-image.
It's important to note that EMDR therapy is not a quick fix for trauma or other mental health concerns. It requires a trained and licensed therapist to guide the process, and it may take several sessions or more to see significant results. As a Certified EMDR therapist (EMDRIA) and Approved EMDRIA Consultant, I believe EMDR therapy to be powerful tool for overcoming the ongoing effects of traumatic experiences.
